Oil Painting Class

It is highly recommended that you have a general understanding of illustration or take our Fundamentals of Drawing Class before this class.

Please note that every other week during this class is a work week to allow for time to work on paintings and let them dry.

Interested in Learning Oil Painting?

Our Oil Painting class will teach you the basics of oil painting, including technique, safety, and different processes from underpainting to impasto. Painters will work on color mixing, painting techniques, and multiple genres of paintings. Work with other students and your instructor to further develop your artistic skill and improve through critiques and instruction. In the class, students will work on a still life painting, landscape, and portrait, as well as a creative composite piece. All classes will include instruction, however, every other class will be dedicated to working on the current project, allowing students to work with the instructor on their current project without lecture instruction. Student may skip these instruction dates in order to work on projects at home.

Class Supplies are as follows and can be purchased in a discounted package at 15% off from our local art store Olyphant. So just let them know you purchased our art class, and they will do the rest. The total for the packs comes out to about 120.00 plus 4 canvases or Gesso Boards. Students should have 4 canvases, Olyphant has a discount for Gesso Board for the class.
