August 2nd – September 20th (8 sessions)

Wednesdays from 6-8pm

Instructor: Aaron Zonka

Oil painting often carries an air of sophistication. It’s true that this medium involves handling certain chemicals that can be hazardous, and it’s crucial to avoid eating any paint. However, oil painting serves as an excellent platform for developing an understanding of color, value, and the art of paint manipulation. Its slow drying time, forgiving nature, and visually captivating results make it an appealing choice for beginners.

In this class, we’ll focus on working from still life setups and references to foster a deeper understanding of the interplay between light and shadow as well as the nuances of hard and soft edges. We’ll also explore vital concepts such as color mixing, hue, and temperature, equipping you with a comprehensive toolkit to approach any subject using oil paint.

Whether you’re a complete novice, unfamiliar with the stroke of a brush, or an individual seeking to refine your painting skills, this class caters to your current skill level.
